Ambers of El Año Viejo

Throughout Latin America,  families gather together each year and stuff life-sized dolls with sawdust and straw, then dress them up for the December 31st ritual, El Año Viejo. This “dummy” represents the pains, sufferings and disappointments of each family member. At midnight, Latin Americans proceed to burn the effigy, thus ushering in a new year of happiness.
